A GIRL & HER BED ON SUNDAYS ARE AN ENDLESS LOVE AFFAIR

Oh Sunday…..I remember the days when Sunday = Sunday Funday, which meant waking up around 11:00 AM (probably hungover from the previous nights festivities), meeting up with my girlfriends around 1:00 PM, and then the drinking would begin.  Jacky was my ultimate Sunday Funday Partner in Crime.  We were always running around having a blast.  (Bali Hai, Jillian’s, Sissy K’s, Road trips to RI, downtown Lowell….I could go on forever.)  We had so much fun, but even thinking about our favorite activities from our early 20’s now makes me feel exhausted.  (That’s what happens when you’re on the wrong side of 25.)  Now, at 27, Sunday Funday to me means: waking up at 7:00 AM to make sure I’m the first person at Stop & Shop, naps, reading, online shopping (in bed, obviously), Law & Order SVU marathons with Saul (until football begins), and if I’m really feeling adventurous, I’ll go shopping with Mel, or visit Greta.  (I know, so exciting.) Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Yes, I had fun back then, but I no longer have that endless energy that I did at 22.  I guess that’s growing up.

Anyway, I was in the mood for a Lazy Sunday Blog Post – something light & easy. without getting really deep into any specific topic.  What better way to accomplish that goal than with a silly, fun, thirty question survey?

Enjoy! 🙂 And feel free to copy and & paste your own answers in your own blogs if you’re in the mood!

Mood! These beds look so inviting.  And that girl just looks so cozy.  #Goals #SundayVibes

30 QUESTION SURVEY

1. YOUR MIDDLE NAME, AND HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT IT:

My middle name is Christine, and I love it. It’s also my moms middle name, and I plan on passing on the tradition to my future daughter.

2. TALK ABOUT YOUR PIERCINGS OR TATTOOS, IF YOU HAVE ANY:

I have zero tattoos, and I probably won’t ever get one.  I contemplate it from time to time, but I don’t love anything enough to permanently mark my body.  Maybe I’ll change my mind one day.  For piercings, I have my ears pierced.  I got my nose pierced when I was 18, but I took it out about six months later, and it closed up, thank God.  I hate the way it looks now.

3. YOUR FAVORITE TELEVISION SHOW:

Hmm….this changes so often.  Right now, I’m obsessed with Real Housewives of OC & NJ.  If you asked me six months ago, I would have told you Pretty Little Liars, which, I do still love.  But it’s just too much now.  Law & Order SVU will forever be my all time favorite show of all time.  It’s totally not the same since Stabler left, but it’s just a classic.

4. WRITE ABOUT YOUR CLOSEST FRIEND(S):

I love my Girlfriends.  Mel is my little sister.  She’s the cutest.  We are so similar it’s crazy.  She truly understands me like no other.  I love her oh so much.  Jenalynnie is my best.  We’ve been best friends since we were little, playing in the eves.  She’s always my voice of reason and my therapist. I love all of my girlfriends – Jacky, Am,  Chaunce (miss you babe!!), Jessi, Talia, Kirsten, Kristen, Sarah, etcetcetc.  Love all you girls!

5.  TELL US YOUR THREE FAVORITE COLORS:

Black. (Duh.)  Pink. And…..maybe purple? Like a super dark vampy looking purple.

6.   YOUR FAVORITE SEASON, AND WHY:

Fall!!!! I love everything about Fall, which I know I’ve expressed numerous times in numerous blog posts.  Cozy sweaters, leggings, fireplaces, apple picking, Halloween, Thanksgiving, chicken noodle soup, fall TV shows – I could go on forever.

7.   WHY YOU DECIDED TO START BLOGGING:

I’ve blogged in the past, but I never truly stuck with it.  I’ve always wanted to start a blog, I was just scared of voicing my opinion and really putting myself out there.  I’m so glad I did.  I love to write – it’s something I’ve always been secretly passionate about. It feels good to not hide it any longer!  I was always embarrassed by it, I think.  I was worried that people would think my writing sucked.  I always thought it would sound somewhat arrogant to say, “Oh, I’m a writer” when I have nothing published or completed, or “I have a blog”.  I thought people would think, “What’s so special about her that she has a blog? Who would want to read that?”  It was just my insecurity talking.  I don’t give a shit if someone thinks that now.  My blog is for me.  It’s an outlet.  And I’ve also gotten a lot of positive feedback, which was such a nice surprise.  Deciding to go through with this blog was one of the best/bravest decisions I’ve made recently.

8.   ARE YOU A FITNESS GURU, OR A COUCH POTATO?:

Neither?  I am clearly not a fitness guru, but I’m not exactly a couch potato.  I go through really strange periods with my fitness regimen.  I have an “All or Nothing” mentality, which I know is not a good way to think.  I can’t help it!  When I’m eating really healthy, I’m sticking to it hardcore and that makes me want to work out like crazy.  When I’m acting like a lazy bum, I’m not working out and I’m eating too many carbs.  I’m working on finding a normal balance right now, honestly.

9.   FAVORITE MEME AT THE MOMENT:

I’m obsessed with Halloween Memes right now.  This one is probably my favorite:

halloweeeeeeeeen

10.   TALK ABOUT YOUR PETS, OR THE PETS YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE:

Well, Lilly will always be my sister, even if she has a new owner.  Lilly was my puppy as a teenager, and my mom gave her to a friend when we were moving out of my childhood home.  It was traumatizing.  Lilly has such a better life now, though.  Her owner, Joy, loves her so much.  She’s currently living in Newburyport, frolicking on the beach with her other doggie friends.  I know she’s happy, so that makes me happy.  And Joy lets me visit her whenever I’d like to.  Lilly is a Cockerspaniel Poodle, and she’s thirteen years old!

Also, as far as future dogs go, I really really really want a cute little Doxon.  His name would be Ollie.  (I have the worst dog allergy ever, though, so unless that goes away, it’s not happening. WAH.)

11.   YOUR THREE FAVORITE ARTISTS:

Britney Jean Spears.  (As if that isn’t a given.)  Drake.  And…..Lana Del Rey.

12.   YOUR THOUGHTS OR OPINIONS ON HARRY POTTER:

I could never get into Harry Potter.  I read the first few books when I was younger, but I lost interest.  I don’t really have any thoughts on it, I guess.  I heard the more recent movies are great, so who knows, maybe I’ll watch them one day.

13.   YOUR THOUGHTS OR OPINIONS ABOUT MEAN GIRLS:

Only one of the greatest movies ever made.  So fetch.  But seriously, I love Mean Girls.  I can quote every single line to the movie.  That’s what happens when you watch it every single night before you go to bed as a teenager. (I wish I was kidding, but I’m not.  I didn’t have cable in my room.  So Mean Girls it was.)

14.   DO YOU HAVE ANY SIBLINGS?  TALK ABOUT THEM:

I have a younger brother, who I call Jamie.  (Everyone else calls him James or by our last name.  My dad calls him Jimmy.)  We fought a lot when we were younger, but we are much closer now.  He’s very funny, and very fun to be around.  I genuinely enjoy his company.    We might drive each other crazy sometimes, but I love my brother.  I would do anything for him.

15.   TELL US YOUR FAVORITE JUNK FOOD:

Something sweet. Like Oreos, or Donuts.

16.   YOUR FAVORITE DISNEY PRINCESS MOVIE:

My favorite Disney Princess is Rapunzel – so Tangled!

17.   YOUR THOUGHTS ON UGG BOOTS:

These questions are silly….but I’m a fan of Ugg boots. They’re so cozy and comfy.  I don’t think they’re ugly either, I think they’re cute.  And Tom Brady models for Ugg, so….

18.   DO YOU DRINK SODA MORE OFTEN THAN MILK?:

I don’t really drink either.  If I go out to dinner I may order a diet coke, but that’s the extent of my soda drinking.  And I only drink milk in coffee.  I drink water, or vitamin water.  Maybe juice.

19.   THE INITIALS OF YOUR S.O.:

SJM ❤

saully2

20.   DO YOU WEAR GLASSES? IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY FOR?

Yes, I do.  I have astigmatism, in both eyes.  I need to get them rechecked, actually.  I desperately need a new prescription!  I’m supposed to wear them 24/7, but I do not.  I pretty much only wear them when I’m using the computer, or driving at night.  That’s about it!

21.  YOUR FAVORITE SUBJECT TO STUDY:

I think this little survey was made for a 13 year old, but I can’t stop now since I’m so close to the finish line.  I’m contemplating taking medical courses for my job, but I don’t know how much I’m going to love that, so I can’t say it’s my favorite.  English was my favorite subject in school.  I also think I would love Creative Writing, but I’ve never taken that course before.  I want to, though.

22.   WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOBBY?:

I hate this question, in general.  Define hobby.  Reading? Writing? Shopping? Organizing?

23.   YOUR OPINIONS ON LADY GAGA:

Lady Gaga just absolutely SLAYS! I love her.  She’s so authentically, unapologetically herself, it’s so beautifully refreshing to see.  She’s genuine.  She’s gorgeous, a great performer, and just an amazing human being.  LOVE!

24.   TELL US ABOUT THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW IN THEATERS:

I think it was The Disappointments Room….I’m pretty sure that’s what it was called.  If I thought it was worth seeing, I would look it up, but it’s not.  Huge disappointment.  (Haha!)

25.   TELL US ABOUT THE LAST BOOK YOU READ:

I’m currently reading It Ends with Us – Colleen Hoover.  So far, so good, but I’m only on the third chapter!  I heard it was amazing though from a few friends.  The last book I finished was The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall.  I just wanted to read a Halloween/Ghost type of book.  It was good!  I breezed through it.

26.   NAME A PLACE YOU WOULD LOVE TO VISIT ONE DAY:

Only one?  Hmmm….there are so many places I would love to travel to.  I want to go to Italy, for sure.  But I also really want to go to Santorini (Greece.)   And Bora Bora.  I can’t pick just one!

27.   LIST YOUR THREE FAVORITE GIRLS NAME/THREE FAVORITE BOYS NAME/THREE NAMES FOR PETS:

Okay….Girls: Emma, Aria & Ariana.  Boys: Nathan, Ryan & Mason.  Pets: Lilly! Ollie & Daisy.

28.   YOUR FIRST CELEBRITY CRUSH:

I almost said Leonardo DiCaprio, but I remember loving Kirk Cameron, from Growing Pains, and I think I liked him first.

29.   YOUR OPINION ON THE TV SHOW, GLEE:

I really don’t have any.  I’ve only seen one episode, and that was based solely on the fact that Britney was guest starring.

30.   POST THE MOST RECENT PICTURE OF YOURSELF:

Okay, done! I’m tired, it’s totally nap time.

Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday!!

Pumpkin Spice Part 2: Fall Throwback Edition

falllll

In honor of my favorite season/month/holiday (Halloween), I felt as though it was only appropriate to take a trip down memory lane and post my favorite fall moments from years past.  (This year will be included, also!  I know Fall has just begun, but I have made some fun memories that are definitely in my Top Ten.)  And Fall is nowhere near being over yet, so I’m sure I’ll have some add to add later on!   Here are some favorites, in no particular order:

APPLE PICKING, CARAMEL APPLES, APPLE CIDER SANGRIA….

Basically apple flavored everything.  I’m obsessed with the scent of apple, so I get super excited when September rolls around (okay, maybe mid-late August), and I start lighting my Macintosh Apple Yankee Candle 24/7.  I go a little crazy – I have apple scented febreeze, apple scented soap from Bath & Body Works….it’s just heavenly, seriously.  I love to go apple picking.  Hayrides are seriously my favorite.  In the years past, I’ve gone with multiple people, multiple times, but my favorite memory is going with Jen & Am (even though we hated Parlee Farms!) I can’t bake (at all), but Jena is a fabulous baker, and she would make the best apple pie.  She also got me hooked on Angry Orchard, which is basically just adult apple juice (I love juice.) Last year, Kristen made Apple Cider Sangria, which I had for the first time, and it was so delicious.Oh, and Caramel Apples. Bobby used to make the best ones.  And, though Jen and I haven’t been in forever, we used to go to this little shop in NH that sold gourmet Caramel Apples that were beyond amazing.  They had everything you could possibly think of – Oreo, Reese’s, Coconut.  It was amazing.

When I taught Preschool, one of the Mom’s bought me Apple Soap & an Apple Scented Candle as a “Back to School” present in September.  So sweet! And my favorite.

The Gourmet Caramel Apple from the little shop in NH is the second photo.  Totally blanking on the name of the shop.  It looks amazing though. right?

Jen & Am @ Parlee Farms. (No clue what year this is, I’m guessing like 2011 since Jen wasn’t blonde.)

Saul & I Apple Picking @ Cider Hill Farms last year!

SPOOKY WORLD & SALEM, MA

I haven’t been to Spooky World in years, but we used to go almost every year and we would all have so much fun.  We always used to tease Am because she would get genuinely scared, but honestly, sometimes it really was scary!  The haunted walk in the woods scared the shit out of me.  The people who work at Spooky World were also super creepy – they would get right in your face, which honestly was a little bit too much.  But it would always be a great time.

Again, unsure of the years.  I love that me & Jen switched hair colors at some point, LOL.

Salem is even better than Spooky World.  I made Jena go in this haunted house with me once, and I’m not even kidding, it was the most horrifying experience I think I’ve ever had.  We were the only two in there, and it was pitch black, so you couldn’t even see in front of you.  I made Jen go first, and I was holding onto her as we tried to make our way through the dark.  I kept saying, “Jen, I’m so scared!”  and the people who were working in the haunted house were creepily calling out, “Jen! Jen! We’re scared!”  We couldn’t wait to get out of there.  (Needless to say, Jena has not been in a Haunted House with me since.  LOL, insert the monkey covering his eyes emoji.  Sorry Jen!)  Walking around Salem though and going in all of the shops was probably my favorite part.  I went a few different times over the years, and I think Salem is just so cool – I love the history of it.

PUMPKIN SPICE GIVES ME LIFE

Obviously Pumpkin flavored everything.  Isn’t that a given?  Always love having pumpkin beer with my girlfriends.  I don’t care if we go out, stay in (I used to be able to force everyone to watch scary movies with me – Jen, Am & Chaunce all wanted to kill me after I made them watch Paranormal Activity with me) – but pumpkin beer just makes the night more enjoyable, and so Fall-ish. (So basic white girl-ish.)

Oh, and Pumpkin Picking as a child – THE BEST.

halloween-little3

If you say that the 90’s were not the greatest time of your life, you’re lying.

FALL DECOR

I love Fall/Halloween Decor!  I never get to decorate exactly how I would like to, though.  When I lived at home, I couldn’t decorate my way.  Last October, I was finally in my own cute little apartment, but it was so small (a studio) and Halloween decorations really weren’t going to fit anywhere.  I live with Saully now, and though this apartment is clearly bigger than my last, it’s still not big enough to decorate properly. (Side note:  I went to Home Goods yesterday for a new shower curtain, and I seriously only bought a shower curtain, nothing else.  I know, amazing, right?  I was telling Saul how hard it was to keep walking when I saw all of the pretty, sparkly pumpkins.  Saul told me if I brought home a sparkly pumpkin, it would be tossed off the balcony. LOL he’s such a brat.)  Luckily, I get to live vicariously through Jena, who always decorates the best for all Holiday’s.  But Halloween is her specialty.

The extent of my Fall Decor. LOL.

This is just a sample of Jena’s.  It’s amazing.

THIS IS HALLOWEEN

I love Halloween!  Halloween parties are my favorite.  I used to love dressing up, so here are some of my costumes from the past.

halloween2

Geeky Hello Kitty is/will probably always be my favorite costume.

Hmm…what else?  Through the years, I was a cat (so basic) a  football player, a goth, Snooki, Freddy Krueger….I’m probably forgetting some. Jena/Patty always had annual Halloween Parties and they were a blast.

Also, I cannot forget Halloween when I was little.  Being with my brother and cousins trick or treating was the best.

We were so cute and silly.

THANKSGIVING (WHICH ALSO MEANS GAME NIGHT)

I love Thanksgiving, it’s so relaxing.  It’s the one day you’re allowed to eat whatever, take a nap because you’re in a food coma, and have zero responsibilities.  My plans for Thanksgiving differ every year.  Sometimes I would spend it with Jen.  Other times Greta would be the hostess.  I’ve gone to Saul’s Moms, and Kristen & Jordan’s.  I always visit my Dad at some point. I used to never actually contribute with the cooking, but the past few years I’ve helped Saul make some amazing desserts.  And, my favorite part of all, is playing MONOPOLY!!  (Typically this only happens if I go to the Johnson residence, LOL.)  One year we seriously played for like, four hours.  (Everyone wanted to quit by the end, but me and Bobby were not having it.)  All this talk about Monopoly is making me want to play right now.

Papa G ❤

The Master Chef @ Work.

I Love Monopoly!

LAST, BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST….

JESSI’S BACHELORETTE IN PORTLAND, MAINE (2016!)

I had so much fun celebrating Jessi’s Bachelorette in Portland last weekend.  Definitely my favorite fall memory so far.  There were 13 of us girls in total, I had such a blast partying with everyone!  I am so happy and excited for Jessi. And I definitely need to go on another girls trip ASAP!

That’s all for now! What are your favorite Fall Memories?

Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice…..HAPPY OCTOBER! Part 1.

fall

October has finally arrived, and I couldn’t be more excited.  (Yes I know, you’re probably thinking, “super basic white girl”, but I don’t care. If loving pumpkin spice, pretty scarves and Hocus Pocus is wrong, then I don’t want to be right.)  October is absolutely my favorite month.  I love scary movies, haunted houses, cute new riding boots and leather jackets, dark nail polish – I could go on forever.  For the first part of this post, I’m going to  list what I am super excited about this October!  In Part 2, I’m going to throw it back with all my favorites from previous years! Enjoy 🙂

addtext_com_mtawnza0mtc0oda4

  1. Jessi’s Bachelorette Weekend! We are going to Portland, and I cannot wait.  I’m so happy for Jess and so excited to go away with the girls.  I know we’re going on a brewery tour, and also a sunset sail cruise.  It’s going to be a blast just celebrating Jessi and drinking and having fun!
  2. I’m trying to go in order here, so next up is getting my hair done w/ Claire! She got me really blonde last time, and I can’t wait to see how much blonder I can go.  ( I know I said in a previous post that I was keeping my hair brunette….I can’t ever make up my mind.  I decided last minute that I wanted an Ombre.  So happy I did!) errie-blonde
  3. Kirsten’s Fall Get Together! Kirsten is having a little Fall gathering at her house.  Pumpkin Spice everything, and I get to see the cutest little babe Tyler! I’m also excited that Sharon and Amanda are coming, and Sharon’s bringing her baby, Troy – can’t wait to see him as well! 🙂 It’s going to be such a fun afternoon.
  4. Pumpkin Picking is an absolute MUST.  I haven’t gone Apple Picking this year – I think I’m okay with not going.  But I need to go Pumpkin Picking because I just want to paint a pumpkin.  (Carving is not for me…I did it one year with Chen – AWFUL.  It was so much work!)  cute-pumpkins
  5. Halloween Movies! Hocus Pocus Forever.  I could watch that year round.  I still like Halloweentown, I can’t lie.  (LOL, you know, the Disney Channel movie?)  I love watching all the Halloween (Michael Meyers) ones.  I’ll watch anything scary.  hocus
  6. I probably won’t do both, but I must go to Salem or Spooky World.  They’re both so much fun, so I don’t care which one I end up choosing.
  7. THE WALKING DEAD RETURNS!!! This should have been mentioned sooner.  But OMG, who did Neegan kill!? (Also, is anyone else having a hard time taking Neegan seriously?  I mean, he’s really just Denny Duquette, Izzy’s dying lover on Grey’s Anatomy.)   It resumes on 10/23, FYI.  (Another side note: If Daryl is dead I just quit the show.)daryl
  8. Reading a ton of scary, ghost inspired books.  Oh, and witches.  Books about witches are the best.  I’ve been pinning what I want to read like crazy, I’ll give you a sample! And I’ll let you know what I read, and if these books are worth reading or not!

    9. Listening to my favorites, Karen & Georgia’s podcast, MY FAVORITE MURDER! Check it out, they are so amazing.  They read about murders, obviously, but they’re also hilarious.  They have minisodes also, where they read about people’s hometown murders that they send to them.  I listen to them in the car, it’s so great, it makes any commute enjoyable.

 10. Last but not least, HALLOWEEN! Obviously.  The greatest day of the whole year! (Besides my birthday.)  Unsure if I have any Halloween parties to attend, but I have a billion costume ideas running through my mind.  (Wednesday Addams is winning right now.  Cher from Clueless is not far behind.) Halloween falls on a Monday, and I plan on eating candy, and forcing Saul to watch Halloween movies with me ALL NIGHT LONG, and drinking pumpkin beer.

halloweeen

Hope you all have a fun filled, spooky October!
